Since 1991 we have only used HONDA CBR models, in the year of the championship the CBR 600F4. Apart from training, i.e. just for the race, we had planned 10 pairs of brake pads for the front. After the second pad change during a pit stop, the calculation showed that we would run out of pads after 14 hours. We came across the Carbone Lorraine during a race service in the paddock. The seller's promise that they were very durable was the “straw” we were clutching at the time. After 12 hours we fitted the pads and then rode the remaining 12 hours without changing them. In preparation for the 1998 24-hour race in Oschersleben (Germany), we completed 200 laps in training with Carbone Lorraine pads and then measured the wear. Extrapolated to the expected race distance, the pads “should” last.
